Aircraft Maintenance Control and Operational Defect Troubleshooting
Novotný, Tomáš ; Finda, Jindřich (referee) ; Zdich, Jiří (advisor)
This diploma thesis cover with the management of aircraft maintenance, one specific airline which operating with aircraft SAAB 340. Especially I dedicated to the maintenance and troubleshooting on the aircraft found during the operation. Contents diploma thesis consists of three parts. The first part describes the basic elements and concepts in the field of aircraft maintenance and related regulations. The next part describes the company which operating the aircraft for commercial transport, approach to the maintenance of its own fleet, together with the methodology for recording faults or malfunctions found during the operation. In the last part, I am cover with assessment of the system recording and troubleshooting.
Use of Bayesian Networks in Managerial Practice
Rod, Martin ; Váchová, Lucie (advisor) ; Bína, Vladislav (referee)
The main goal of our bachelor thesis is to create a quantitave model which describes real biogas plant (property of company VOD Kadov) and its troubleshooting. Our created model has broad applications. It can be used as a support tool for managerial decision making either for biogas plant's malfunction or for its improvement. Secondly it plays a major role in quantitative clarification of inner links and processes which takes place inside the biogas plant. This quantification is done by Bayesian statistic approach via Bayesian network and its methods. For modeling purposes we exploit (leak) noisy OR-gate model and various methods for variable discretization. We heavily use company's data for model creation. With our model we simulated the run of biogas plant and its possible malfunctions. We also provided an easy step by step guide how to troubleshoot these malfunctions.

The subject of the thesis belongs to the field of operations management. We deal with sequencing problems arising when there are multiple repair operations available to fix a broken man-made system and the true cause of the system failure is uncertain. It is assumed that the system is formally described by a probabilistic model, and it is to be repaired by a sequence of troubleshooting operations designed to identify the cause of the malfunction and fix the system. The challenge is to find a course of repair which has minimal expected cost. We study several variants of the problem proposed in the literature. We analyze computational complexity of those variants, apply integer linear programming to one variant of the problem, and examine the relation to machine scheduling.

Polynomial-time Algorithm for Basic Troubleshooting with Call-Service
Lín, Václav
In decision-theoretic troubleshooting, we are given a probabilistic model of a man-made device. Our task is to identify and eliminate a fault causing the device to malfunction through a sequence of troubleshooting actions. We study a variant of the problem where we can at any time “call service” and eliminate the fault at once by paying a fixed penalty.
